Louisiana MO Plein Air Event

View-from-Main-Street_Louisiana_MO

Gorgeous weather, beautiful views and great company made this past Saturday a plein air painter’s dream. Louisiana MO is full of history and charm and has stunning views of the Mississippi. You can really get a feel for what it must have been like when the river brought goods and settlers to the Midwest. The town has lovely old historic homes set along the river bluffs, and although some are a little faded with age, they retain their original stateliness and grace. The town seems to hustle and bustle with activity, yet is peaceful in a way that is difficult to describe. I could hear a train whistle every now and then and motor boats on the river, and a woodpecker calling from the large trees along the street. This little painting was my warm-up piece and shows a view from Main Street. It’s an 8 x 10 oil on panel and if you have an interest in purchasing it, please use the ‘contact me’ link above.

  1. Thanks, Judy. I posted it because it’s the best of the two paintings I made that day but feel it’s a bit unfinished and may try it again when I have more time. I appreciate your comment!
